Woman Who Wears Pants Released From Prison

A woman journalist who was convicted in Sudan for wearing pants on the public was recently released from jails after someone paid her bail without her knowledge.

When asked who may have paid her bail, Lubna Hussein told The Associated Press that she believes it was the Journalist Union, an organization that is close to the government.

The journalist added that the government is “unnerved” by her presence inside the prison since she may report the dismal condition of other prisoners inside.

Few weeks ago, Hussein was convicted of public indecency for simply wearing pants.  As part of her punishment, she was asked to pay a $200 fine or face a month behind bars.  She chose the latter as she believes that she did nothing wrong.
