While director Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland is a huge success in the silver screen this year, this timeless story has been first made into a movie in 1903 when it was shown in black and white picture and with no sound effect.

Just recently, the BFI National Archive has preserved the original copy of the movie and restored its color.  Meanwhile, the restoration project is extremely remarkable and important given the fact that there is only one copy left of the original Alice in Wonderland.

Three Los Angeles teachers were suspended after giving children pictures of OJ Simpson and Dennis Rodman during the Black History Month parade on Friday that celebrates the African-American history.

In an interview, Los Angeles school district spokesman Gayle Pollar-Terry said the teachers who are employed by Wadsworth Elementary School are under suspension while the authorities are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, celebrity talk show host Oprah Winfrey said the teachers, who are white, could have made appropriate choice.

During the parade, young students were carrying pictures of Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama, and other black heroes.

Colorado: A Catholic school said it will not allow a preschooler to re-enroll next year because the child’s parents are lesbians, according to a local news report.

In a statement released Friday, the Sacred Heart of Jesus said the child’s parents are not “following the Catholic teaching” which prohibits same-sex marriage.

Meanwhile, the archdiocese in Denver defended the school’s decision, saying that the child may be “confused” and that the teachers and school administration may find themselves in a compromising situation.

However, some neighbors in the area did not approve the school’s decision, adding that a child with gay parents should not be punished.

A chief executive in Tennessee has called First Lady Michelle Obama a “Cheeta”, the chimp in Tarzan movies, on his email which was sent to media, public relations officers, and Nashville’s legislative liaisons.

But a day after the controversial email came to public, Tennessee Hospitality Association CEO Walt Baker has apologized and said that “the message was a political humor and did not intend to hurt or insult anyone.”

The CEO said that he “deeply apologize to those who are offended by his action”, adding that the message “has just been misinterpreted by some people.”

However, Baker’s apology did not stop the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau to withdraw its $50,000 contract with the firm.

After animal trainer Dawn Brancheau was drowned by a killer whale in front of an audience, experts have several theories on why the animal has attacked and killed its own trainer.

•    Killer whales are naturally playful animals and the one that killed the trainer may have been bored inside the aquarium.
•    Something or someone might have agitated the animal, causing it to drag Brancheau under water.
•    The animal has experienced severe stress, probably causing it to snap.

Director and actor Kevin Smith said in his Twitter account that he was ejected from an airplane because he did not fit properly in a single seat.  He also added that he is probably “way fat” but can still seat in one passenger seat.

Smith said a pilot from Southwest Airlines asked him to leave the plane since the company is following a policy which requires travelers to “fit safely and comfortably in a single seat” or make an advanced arrangement if they do not fit well.

After the famous director Twitted his irate statements, many of his fans posted angry online comments against the airline which later issued an apology to its web site and also to Smith’s Twitter account.

While Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was being interviewed, photographers and cameramen noticed that there were mysterious writings in her palm.  And after being scrutinized, the video showed that Palin has scribbled these words: lift American spirits, budget cuts (crossed out), and tax.

With this controversy, the Alaska governor has probably committed a major faux pas in front of thousands of people especially when she called US President Barack Obama as a “charismatic guy” with a teleprompter.

Meanwhile, some political analysts said that this “embarrassing moment” may further elude Palin’s dream of becoming the US president.

Because Super Bowl commercials are making wave nowadays, I decided to feature this particular video ad showing big wigs in talk show television which include Oprah Winfrey, David Letterman, and Jay Leno.

This commercial, which only lasted about few seconds, starts when Letterman grumbled on how boring the Super Bowl party was.  Then Oprah, who was seated next to him, said that he should try to be nice since Leno was also with them.

However, Leno blurted out that Letterman was only bored because he was there.

Considered to be one of the hottest celebrity athletes, David Beckham did not imagine that there will be someone who will have some “balls” to assault him even in front of his security agents.

The assault happened when an Italian woman from a popular TV prank show, posed as a reporter and came near the football star to make an interview.  Then suddenly, she grabbed Beckham’s crotch to feel the size of his “crown jewels”.

Meanwhile, Beckham was obviously not amused with the stunt and was immediately hustled away by his security guards to a hotel.

After the stunt, the prankster shouted that it “was small”.

A Chinese woman is making headline for her plan to undergo a surgery to look like Hollywood actress Jessica Alba—the ultimate crush of her ex-boyfriend who broke up with her just a couple of months ago.

The woman said that she might get her ex back if she looks Alba, adding that she keeps on ignoring the advice of other people not to undergo the surgery.

But few days ago, Alba made a statement saying that she was deeply distressed by the news of a woman who wants to undergo a plastic surgery just to look like her.

In an interview, Alba advised the woman that “she should never change her look for the sake of getting her lover back.”

“If somebody really loves you, then they will have to love you no matter what”, Alba quoted saying.
