Metacafe | Best Videos & Funny Movies

I have a very stressful, very fast paced job, handling marketing issues for a certain multinational company. And often times, I eat on my workstation just because the 8 hour shift that I have is barely enough for me to cover what I need to do.

This is the very reason that I easily get burned out. Well, good thing that a friend of mine introduced me to Metacafe. It is very similar to YouTube that al the kids are crazy about these days because the videos that they have at Metacafe barely last for 2 minutes. So when I feel that I am about to explode or when I get myself too caught up that I end up getting pretty emotional already, I escape the workplace by visiting Metacafe.com.

But what is Metacafe? It is one among the handful of video websites that have millions upon millions of viewer world wide. This site is highly focused on very short videos from other people who wanted to share the world whatever talent they have or whatever crazy thing they captured on video. The company is based in California with branches in the big apple and Tel Aviv. Some of its investors are as follow: highland Capital Partners, Benchmark Capital, Accel Partners and DAG Ventures among others.

This became my choice of internet video streaming community because the videos found here are the ones that I find interesting and entertaining. The site does not have any hard news and all sorts of videos that are boring and tedious to watch. The site has an “auditions” community that is called Community Auditions that will gauge and review the videos that get loaded.

Another reason why I love this site is that since I too am a maker of short videos that are both funny and entertaining (or so my viewers say), Metacafe is perfect for me as the site is mainly run by subscribers like me who post videos. This site definitely gives us the free reign we want in terms of posting only those that entertain us.

Aside from the video aspect, the site also has some other features that I found useful, like the Community Rewards, which awards “videophiles” that make original and great films as deemed fit by the viewers. Not only were you able to share your work to the world, you even get paid for doing so. How awesome is that (still hoping for my videos to get picked).

They also have Community Rankings using their VideoRank that can identify the topmost videos in the site through an automatic counter.

The videos are segregated in different categories such as 18+ only, Wheels and Wings, Video Games, Art and Animation, Cool Commercials, Music and Dance, Travel and Outdoors, Spots, Science and Tech, Pets and Animals, How To’s, Comedy, just to name a few.

So if you feel that you are about to go crazy and you need just a few minutes to unwind and relax, then log on to Metacafe and see how amazing this alternative site is.
