Megavideo | Are you watching it?

I never thought that television would soon be digitalized and made available on the internet. Ever since its innovation video tube websites have grown in number and are trying to be the best by giving people instant uploading power in order to share videos to people all around the world. Some of these websites have become successful, some of which include YouTube and Veoh, while others are working just as hard to become the “#1 Online Video Website” in the World Wide Web. For this review, I’ll be checking out an online video website known as Megavideo Before I start giving my opinion and critique on its different website sections and functionality, I have given this website a rating of 7 out of 10, with reasons I will be explaining later on.
I clicked on the About page to see what Megavideo is about, when it started, and the features included in the website. To my surprise, the page displayed statements about their goal to replace YouTube as the leading pioneer of online video hosting while giving users and partner websites complete ownership of advertising profit even while using their website as their platform. I didn’t know that the purpose of creating this website was to overcome another. This made me very skeptical about the management of this website if it is really for the entertainment of everyone who is into online videos or to compete with other websites and serve online marketers as their advertising platform. This was a big turn off on my part as the online user.

In terms of website organization and design though, Megavideo has impressed me very much. The buttons were very flashy and the navigation wasn’t very hard so I was able to search for videos easily. The graphics were impressive and I very much admired the way they organize videos that were related to the search. It was weird though when the advertisement displayed two women before the video started buffering, which affirmed my assumption that partner websites are using Megavideo as their advertising platform.
Now in terms of how fast the videos buffer and play, it would really have to depend on your internet bandwidth connection. I experienced a recession with my internet connection but the video kept playing despite the number of times it had to stop because of buffering. With all the graphics and special effects activated, I would suggest watching videos here when your internet speed is at its premium or else you’re really not going to benefit from anything here in Megavideo. Overall, I find Megavideo.com to be very advanced in terms of its use of graphics, Java script, and its ability to organize videos in such a way that the website doesn’t look sloppy and messed up. I would have liked it a whole lot more though if the company’s aims were not to replace other websites, especially by featuring a video about it in the homepage, and to serve users and advertisers by being their advertising platforms to earn more money.

I also signed up for a premium membership, and when logged in, I STILL get the time limit message. They are ignoring my emails, so I am going to have to open a billing dispute with my credit card company.
