Half man, half tree
Dede Kosawa is an Indonesian man who is afflicted with a deforming skin disease. Because of his unusual appearance, he is dubbed as a “treeman” because his feet and hands seem like to be growing with roots and leaves.
According to Dr. Anthony Gaspari, an American dermatologists, Kosawa acquired a strain of virus which causes warts, but because the man has a weak immunity and low white blood cells, his body cannot fight off the infection.
Kosawa is living a tragic life. His wife left him and was sacked from his work. He now lives with his parents and some relatives.
Last year, Kosawa underwent a surgery to remove the warts and cutaneous horn (cutaneous cells is found in hair and fingernails). He also receives medication and chemotherapy to stop the horns from growing.
